We've been a bit busy these last few months, having just returned from a two week trip to Colusa California to visit Judy's family home in September (1998). Last October (1997) we lost her mother, and this was the first trip home since then. We built and delivered a computer for Ted (Judy's dad), complete with photos of Bev (Judy's mother) on it.
We were able to convince Ted's sister Ruth to visit at the same time, and she was able to drag her computer along for upgrading. That's literally drag, as she had it boxed and on a cart to drag it through the airport! We were able to get parts ordered and installed just a day before the return trip.
We had quite a house-full on Sunday, September 6th. Ted, Ruth, Bob, Judy, Nathan, and Grannie were all there, along with Bev's brother Don and his wife Karen, and friends Bill and Marie Mahorney. We had steak and good conversation, with Don as the chef. (Of the steaks, that is. The women put the rest of it together!) Nathan videotaped much of it, but didn't quite catch Karen's "bag lady" routine (she's camera shy). Carol Burnett, watch out!
In October, on the anniversary of Bev's passing, we lost Harriet as well and were forced to fly back to California for her funeral in Foresthill. As much as we like to visit our family I'd rather it not be for that reason. Our family traveled to Foresthill for a beautiful funeral, the cemetery overlooking a valley of evergreen trees and rivers. It is a beautiful resting place.
Ted came to Colorado Springs to visit our family for 2 weeks in November, was able to stay for Thanksgiving. We had lots of fun just staying home (though Bob and I had to work), playing with (teasing) the cats, learning the computers, and going over all the old photographs Ted brought with him. I scanned in quite a few while he was here, though it would take quite a bit of time to get them all.
Thomas was here in Colorado Springs for 2 weeks visiting us. He spent Christmas vacation with us from his school in Vancouver, WA. I anticipated a nice holiday with him, but wound up sick with bronchitis almost the whole time. Even so, it was nice to have our family back together again.
