The first seven ('Serene Lemonade' through 'Stoic (w/vocal...)' are all original pieces.

On the originals, I've written all lyrics (where they appear), and played all instruments (bass, rhythm, guitar riffs, vocals) except:

Drums (Boss DR-770)

Leads (credited to the guitarist who performed them by name, for the songs which contain one).

The rest are my vocal renditions. Most of the original recordings were created on a Fostex MR-8 multitracker. Prior to the MR-8, some of the vocal pieces were made using pre-recorded backing tracks from CD, and mixed with vocals direct to minidisc (MD).

"Serene Lemonade" is a psychedelic-hypnotic rock piece. This is a complete song, replete with lead by Dennis Yaeger. Most of the rest of the pieces are snippets of ideas.

"Darker", a heavier rocker, and "Cento Ani" a jazzier feel, are instrumentals. "Inside Out" is a very short instrumental (47 seconds), but it contains two separate bass lines.

"Stoic"- I originally cut the vocals in a higher register, performing them half-shouted and screamed for effect and feeling. The original feedback I got was that the vocals needed more bottom. So the version with vocals I've posted here I've sung in my natural register for the main vocal, with an octave higher doubled, and mixed down in the background. This one still needs a lead - any takers? Give me feedback via email at Bob@mail.szekely-home.net.

"Black Sabbath 2005" - I created this with the Line6 GuitarPort and RiffTracker software. I played rhythm guitar, bass, and sang. The drums were provided by the software's virtual drummer. Since the software didn't have a moody, slow "Bill Ward" drum setting, what came out is still heavy, but has a different feel than the original artist's rendition.

"
Fire in My Soul
" - I recorded this track using three applications on my PC. Each of the song sections was recorded as a separate part in Line6 RiffTracker. I then assembled the riffs in order to create the song, and then selectively muted tracks, to enable me to export the rhythm and riff guitar parts, bass guitar, and drums each as individual .WAV files, and loaded these files into Cakewalk Guitar Tracks 2.0: each .WAV file came in as a separate track. All these tracks were saved as a .BUN file, and opened in Sonar Home Studio 4.0, where it was converted it to the newer Cakewalk .CWB/.CWP format. Vocals, track 'sweetening', a lot of bouncing, track cloning and post-processing, were eventually mixed it down to the song you hear on this web page. Lyrics, by the way, were written a verse at a time (and cut on Saturday mornings), over the course of roughly six weeks. Then 3-4 months of experimenting with the mix, until I came up with the 'power mix' sound I was looking for. (Lead guitar provided by Tom Tenpenny in January 2006).
